The Talking Cave

A clever jackal once made his home in a cave in the jungle. Everyday, he would leave the cave at sun rise in search of food, and returned at sun set.In the same forest, there lived a lion. He had grown very old and could no longer run fast. Enough to catch his prey. He often went hungry because of this. "I feel so weak and hungry". He thought," I wish I could catch some animal today." One day he saw a lame deer and ran after it but the lame deer run faster then he did, and escaped. The lion was very upset. He thought, " How old have I become! Now , I cannot catch even a lame deer."

As the lion wandered in search of prey, he came upon the jackal's cave. It was empty, for the jackal had gone out to hunt. The lion was sure that some animal lived there. He had an idea." I will hide inside" he thought,"and will pounce on the animal once it enters the cave". The lion waited in the cave the whole day. He was very hungry and this made him restless and impatient."How long do I wait", He wondered, Before some animals entered the cave?"

The jackal returned at sunset to find the whole forest quiet around the cave. He sniffed the air warily he was sure that all was not well. He looked around him, then the cave was something lurking inside? So he thought a bit then called out , " O cave ! Why are you quiet today? Why have you not shouted out your welcome as you usually do?"

The poor lion believe that the jackal really spoke to the cave. So he shouted out," Welcome back home ,O jackal! " Hearing the roar of the lion, the jackal turned and fled. The lion waited and waited, but soon realized that he had been fooled. He left the cave disappointed and very hungry. The jackal, Who had been watching the cave hidden at safe distance, waited till the lion was out of sight. Then he returned to his cave for a good night's rest.

The Fly and the Moth

One day a fly came across a house garden where a jar of honey was placed. Finding the jar open, the fly was tempted to taste honey. "Ah!" said the fly, "the honey looks so tasty and smells good too. I must try it out." Overjoyed to find an open honey jar, the fly soon started to lick the honey. Finding it very sweet and tasty the fly started to enjoy the feast which had not tasted for long. He began to relish the honey that was there along the edges of the jar. Soon, little by little he finished all the honey that was around the edges and slowly crept away from the edge and landed inside the jar.          As he fell inside the jar he found himself stuck.
